Uganda Delegation to the Chengdu FISU World University Games met today 8th June, at Makerere University to get their first briefing about the upcoming FISU World University Games.

A representative from National Council of Sports, Mr. David Katende, Commissioner for Sports Reverend Duncan Mugumya, and State Minister for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang were in attendance as well.

Team Uganda is set to forward four sporting activities including Athletics, Swimming, Badminton and Lawn Tennis. The student Athletes together with the coaches and officials met with the AUUS Executive Committee in the first meeting together with 50 Days Remaining to the games.

A number of issues were discussed including the visa process, checklist for the World University Games, training schedules, details about FISU Games and many more.

The Minister encouraged athletes to train hard, be focused and avoid doping. Uganda hopes to send a Delegation of about 50 students coaches, and officials to the games slated to start from 28 July -8 August,2023.
