The Uganda Rugby Union announced the Calendar for the 2023 Nile Special 7s circuits and it’s already promising to be a fun and action packed one.

The circuits which will span 2 months shall each be played on 2 days in order to give the players plenty of recovery time between the games and also extended action for the spectators.

2022 Champions Jinja Hippos will host the opening circuit on 1/2 July, which is 2 weeks away at the Dam waters Grounds before the circuit shifting to Northern Uganda the following weekend.

The 2023 Sevens Calender will be as follows.

  • 1/2 July, Dam waters Jinja
  • 8/9 July, Kitgum- Bomah Grounds
  • 22/23 July, Rujumba 7s, Kings Park Arena
  • 29/30 July, Tooro Buhinga Stadium
  • 12/13 August, Kyadondo 7s
  • 19/20 August, Tororo- Tororo Rugby Club
  • 2/3 September, Kyabazinga 7s- Bugembe Stadium

With Walukuba having been relegated last year,while Rhinos was promoted to replace them, they will become a core team in the circuits.

Nile Special 7s Core teams include
1. Kobs
2. Pirates
3. Hippos
4. Rhinos
5. Heathens
6. Warriors
7. Buffaloes
8. Impis
9. Rams
10. Mongers

The rest will play as invitationals.
