Strong and dominant fourth quarter performance powered KIU Titans to first victory in the second round against a unwavering JKL Dolphins.

The kansanga based side started the gamed strongly exerting there dominance on the Dolphins. The offense was all fired up, putting up 29 points in the first quarter.

The momentum carried through to the second were they scored more 21 points sending the game 32:50 with an 18 point lead. The Titans shot 55% FG and 70% 2P in the first half.

The KIU offense seemed to disappear in the third quarter as they were limited to a mere 8 points compared to the 22 of the Dolphins. The 18 point gap was cut to just 4 heading into the final quarter and it seemed like all the momentum had swung in the Dolphins favor.

The JKL Dolphins third quarter takeover was led by former Titans Guard Kassa Ahmed who scored 12 points in the quarter.

During this period, JKL went on a 14:00 run to make it a 4 point game. They also restricted the KIU offense to 4/16 shots, 25% FG on the floor.

KIU Titans reset in the break and they turned against the tides in the fourth quarter. After Kassa Ahmed had made it a 1 point game, Titans went on a 10:00 run to take the lead back to double digits.

Dolphins seemed to have no answer there onwards and the KIU Titans walked home with the victory.

KIU Titans’ Stanley Mugerwa was named player of the game with s9 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists.

Other notable performers, Ahmed Kassa(20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists), Chuma Fadhili (13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists), Amisi Saidi (14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists), Isaiah Maber Ater (14 points, 2 rebounds).

KIU shot 46% FG and 61% 2P where as Dolphins were 34% and 48% respectively.

KIU Titans make it 10 wins and move to second place. The JKL Dolphins are just 4-9 and sit in 10th place.

The other game of the night was Nabisunsa vs A1 Challenge. A1 picked up their second game in a row and look to have turned their season around already.

Maria Goretti Angole (17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists) and Kekimuli Cathy (10 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists) both registered double doubles but it was Nabisunsa’s Tamasha Nsubuga who scored a game high 19 points accompanied with 4 rebounds and an assist.

Nabisunsa is no 3-10 while A1 Challenge have improved their record to 3-10.
