The second half of the 2023 Uganda Hockey calendar resumed with round two fixtures of the Uganda Cup having six men’s sides tussling it out fora slot in the semi finals slated for 13th August and 24th September (1st and 2nd leg dates respectively)

SC Wananchi,Weatherhead and KHC Stallions picked up big wins to qualify for the Uganda Cup semi-finals with ease. The three were joined by SC Rockets qualifying as the best loser in the round two fixtures having managed to achieve a rather fair score line compared to counterparts Makerere Stingers and KHC Originals.

SC Wananchi thumped KHC Originals twenty two goals going unanswered on aggregate (1st leg 10-0, 2nd leg 12-0). Last year’s Uganda Cup top scorer Jackson Musinguzi continued his trend and fine form adding up to his tally in this year’s edition hitting five against the Originals to keep him aloft of the top scorers chart with nine goals ahead of teammate Jordan Achaye at six goals having picked up three against the KHC side over the weekend.

Ashiraf Tumwesigye also ran riot against Makerere Stingers, picking up five goals as his Weatherhead side surpassed the University based team with an 11-2 score line on aggregate (1st leg 5-2, 2nd leg 6-0).

KHC Stallions as well began their 2nd half of the year with great sensation by humbling a SC Rockets side who had proven to be a force to reckon with, taking a look at their performance in the first half of the year. Aaron Mutenyo’s hattrick in the first leg set the Stallions in a comfortable and steady lead before Benjamin Mkapa and an Ernest Musumba’s shot rounded off the 5 route as Umar Mufumbira pickèd a consolation to give a 5-1 result. KHC continued and summarised their weekend with a 2-1 win in the 2nd leg to finish off round 2 with a 7-2 scoreline win on aggregate.
