The Mak Eagles seem to have “married” the UMU Flames as they managed soar high once again and complete the double over the Nkozi based side.

The Mak Eagles hadn’t won a single game in the second game and it was always going to be a tough game but great team spirit and resilience kept them alive eventually getting the Win.

The UMU Flames have also not been hot in the second round, producing lukewarm performances thus far.

The Flames started with all the heat and led the game with 2 points at the end of the first quarter.

They continued to keep the Eagles at arms length and by the end of the first half, it was just a 5 point lead.

More trouble continued to brew for the Mak Eagles as the Flames punished them hard for their mistakes. The Eagles registered 10 turnovers and only 2 turnovers in the third quarter alone.

They trailed with as many as 15 points with 3:24 left in the third quarter.

Both teams traded a few buckets to start the final quarter but the Flames still have the grip on the game.

Makerere then made a 6:0 run to cut the deficit to single digits. The Flames however responded hard restoring their 12 point lead.

The Eagles once again made a quick 8:0 run and cut the lead to just 4 points half way the quarter.

The Eagles took their first lead of the game with 1:22 left after Simon Kasule made a clutch 3 point shot.

Akena Deo failed to give the Flames their lead after he missed 2 free throws.

The Eagles punished the Flames after Kato Paul made a turnover and Bonus Nagaba extended the Eagles lead from an offensive rebound.

It was Malaria time after Kasule Simon fouled Gerald Otim on the 3 point shot attempt and Gerald had a chance to tie the game with 11 seconds left.

Gerald made the first, but missed the other 2 Free throws. Mathew James collected the rebound but also failed to score. The Flames collected the rebound again and Gerald Otim went for the win and the shot didn’t fall.

Match facts

Both teams has 32% FG, though the Flames attempted more shots (78) compared to 62 for Eagles.

Eagles made (20/36) free throws where as the Flames were very poor scoring just 9 of the 28 attempts.

Mak Eagles was also very active on the defensive end with 6 blocks and just 1 for the Flames.

Mak Eagles had 3 players in double digits.

Nyanzi Denis posted 17 points, 5 rebounds, 45% FG and 2 steals.

Simon Kasule who scored 17 points, 4 3-point shots against UMU Flames

Simon Peter Kasule also registered 17 points with 3 rebounds and 4 steals. All his 4 Field Goals were from the 3-point line.

Bonus Nagaba was also very impactful with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Marvin Ashaba and Benjamin Kyazze both had 9 rebound and the latter was named player of the Game.

Erick Komagum registered a double double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.

Wasswa Peter and Mathew James both had 8 rebounds.

Torach Brian had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal.
