Makerere University has been selected to host the first edition of the East Africa University Championships that will take place between 6-9th October.

The Championships will have have just two games played, Basketball and Football in both the Men’s and women’s Categories.

The championship will happen after the General Assembly of the Federation that will take pale on 5 October.

A total of 16 Universities will be participating in this tournament and criteria for selection is First Come, first served.

Having performed extraordinarily well at the recent East Africa University Games in Ndejje in December, Ugandan University namely Ndejje and Makerere will be gearing up and looking to get their hands on the trophies.

In basketball, Ndejje University edged Kenyatta University in the Men’s finals to take home Gold while Victoria University saw off Uganda Christian University (UCU) to take home the Gold.

Bugema University( Men) and Uganda Christian University (women) were the winners in Football, both teams winning 1:0 in the finals against IUIU and Kampala University respectively.

The teams which reached the last stages will be looked at as the Giants but there will definitely be room for some upsets.
