With just one game week left to close the regular season of the National Basketball League. The table is already looking set and potential match ups in the play off are already being discussed.

The City Oilers are will be the number one seed with the Namuwongo Blazers second, KIU Titans third and D Mark Power in fourth place in the regular season.

It has been a very turbulent last few weeks in the Basketball community with a lot of disturbing news like the Nam Blazers pulling out, Fuba announcing that the 2023 NBL Champions will not be considered for 2024 BAL and most recently JKL Dolphins announcing that their Men’s side is up for sale.

Since the announcement about withdrawal on 29th August by the Nam Blazers, they haven’t yet said anything and FUBA has also not come out with any statement and it is yet to be determined whether Nam Blazers is just bluffing and if not, how will the playoffs proceed.

FUBA can either give the 7th team a bye or maybe consider the 9th team for the playoffs. A lot is yet to be determined and next week, we shall probably be getting the official communication.

Current table standings for Men

The 2 sides that will be relegation have already been determined and it will be the Rezlife Saints who had just come into the league and army side UPDF who blew it, after losing to already relegated Rezlife Saints on Sunday.

The other four teams to join in the playoffs have not yet been determined and the order in which they will finish is yet to be confirmed.

Our Savior and UCU Canons all have 9 wins and will be joining the other 4 teams and this leaves just 2 positions left for the playoffs.

The Kampala Rockets, JKL Dolphins, KCCA Panthers and Ndejje Angels all have 8 wins but the Panther still have 2 games to play while the Angels have 1.

If the Angels get the win against Rezlife, they will automatically be qualifying for the playoffs. The KCCA Panthers also need just a one victory but they face a very tough opposition in UCU Canons and Power.

It will be a very interesting final Game week of the season as so much is at stake for the different teams.

The Ladies category still had many interesting games but the struggle shall just be about placement. Sevens teams have already been confirmed for the playoffs and the final place is still up for grabs.

Nkumba Lady Marines has also already been relegated as they have only 1 win in the 21 games played so far.

The JKL Lady Dolphins are on course to clinching top seed while the KIU Rangers will need a win in their final game against UCU Lady Canons to claim second place.

KCCA Leopards have been in top form recently and they can also finish in second place if they win their game against the Lady Dolphins and Nabisunsa and then the KIU Rangers lose their game against the Lady Canons.

Current table standings for Women

A1 Challenge currently sits in 8th place and have their final game against JKL Lady Dolphins. It looks very unlikely that they will defeat the Dolphins who have put 100+ against their opponents in 2 of their last 3 games.

Angels currently sits 10th hating finished all their games with 4 wins and 18 losses. They could potentially be relegated, but they are praying that Nabisunsa loses both their remaining games.

Nabisunsa has 2 games left and could either make the playoffs, be relegated or survive. The ball is literally in their court and they decided their own fate. The face KCCA Leopards who have been in top form and also Kampala University Ladies, who also want to make the playoffs. The fixture against Kampala University is a make or break for both teams and the stakes are very high. Nabisunsa however need this game most because their survival could depend on it.
