Kyambogo University shall see loads of Rugby action on the 9th September, 2023 as they host the University 7s and the Alumni Exhibition match.

The first edition of the Varsity 7s will be having four circuits and the first one was played on hosted by Uganda Christian University (UCU) and debutants Victoria University emerged Champions after defeating Makerere 1 in the finals.

The first circuit saw University of Kisubi (UNIK) and Nkumba not turn up where as Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi arrived late due to the traffic on the Masaka highway.

The Kyambogo 7s however promise to be a much better outing as most teams are expected to arrive which shall bring in even more competition.

Makerere University missed the services of Shimwa Davis (National team), Moses Olweny and Sydney Gongodyo and will see only Olweny return, as Sydney will be representing for the Tessen Warriors at the Kabeberi 7s in Kenya.

Kyambogo will see the return of their star player Allan Olango who was recently released from the National team and will thus be available.

Victoria University, the winners at UCU will pretty much be the same side and are still looked at as the favorites.

After the University 7s, their will be an Exhibition match in which a student select side will face the Alumni select.

University of Kisubi who missed the first circuit will be participating in Kyambogo and they posted on their socials to confirm their attendance.
