Both UCU teams shall be in action on Friday night for game 2 of their quarter final fixtures.
For teams that weren’t tipped to make it past this stage, they hold the advantage after both winning their respective game 1s against KCCA Leopards and D-Mark Power.
The UCU Canons came from surviving relegation on the final day after defeating KCCA Panthers and took Game 1 against power in a somewhat surprising way.
Power changed their fortunes after the signing of Mpeti Elvis and Puati Ozias Kikomba who immensely lifted their team in terms of performance and results.
The same was expected for Game 1, but the Canons unleashed more weapons from their Arsenal and blew the Power side.

Game 2 will be a very crucial one for the Canons because they know they have what it takes to defeat Power now and avoid game 3. Power on the other hand will want to push as hard as they can because they were a very much improved side in the second round and if they can tap into some of the energy and effort from the earlier games, they could force a game 3.

In a surprising turn of events, UCU Lady Canons easily defeated in-form KCCA Leopards who had just lost 1 game in the second round.
The Lady Canons were in firm control of the game from the get go and things seemed to just work out for the Leopards. The fourth quarter was a nightmare for the Leopards as the Lady Canons kept punishing them on every opportunity

Bridget Aber was on fire in that game with a 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks double double.
Aziida Nabuyunga and Millicent Otieno were also great in the supporting cast dropping 16 and 13 points respectively.

Leanne Nalunkuma led the scoring for the Leopards with 15 points but it’s important to note that none of her shots from deep dropped.
Despite making double digits, Martha Saoigi was so underwhelming for the Leopards with 5/17, 29% FG.
The Lady Canons will just have to replicate their game 1 performance and hope that maybe Tracy Namugosa and Shillah Lamunu can contribute more in terms of points.
The KCCA Leopards will have to work twice as hard as the Lady Canons and also improve on their shooting and Free Throw shooting. Leanne Nalunkuma should attempt more 3point shots, as she’s the most efficient their and Martha Soigi should score more from the paint.
It will be a very interesting match up between Martha and Bridget, “battle of the paint”.

The winner from here plays either JKL Lady Dolphins or A1 Challenge, but it’s the Dolphins with the advantage after winning Game 1.
