Victoria University walked through the Valley of the Shadow of death and came out surprisingly unscathed.
The Varsity 7s 2023 climaxed on the Saturday at the Makerere Rugby Ground, the Graveyard and it was semi finals that mostly gave fans the heebie-jeebies due to the pressure from the 4 teams.

It was Victoria University that once again walked away with the trophy after defeating Makerere University in their own backyard and making it 5/5 with 100% record in all the games.

Makerere fans will of course be very disappointed after their group stage 12:10 victory against Victoria University was rescinded due to fielding and ineligible player.
The players will however walk with their heads held high knowing that they accomplished what no one had yet done on the field ‘defeating Victoria Sharks,.

Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi also almost came close to slaying the giant but it was the sublime defense of the Sharks that forced the Martyrs into an error despite them being 2 meters shy off the try line thus sending the game into Overtime.

Victoria got a chance to bury the game in the first half of overtime but Aaron Tukei uncharacteristically put the ball wide from the penalty kick.
It was the Assassin, Daniel Kateregga who got the job done in the second half with a penalty kick sending the sharks into their fourth consecutive final.
The Makerere derby between MUK and MUBS also gave fans the willies as it was end to end action, Makerere 1 eventually winning in the second half.
