Wananchi men staged a remarkable comeback against HC Badgers. Despite falling behind with Sula’s goal for Badgers in the 1st quarter, Wananchi pressed on relentlessly. They capitalized on penalty corners, with three goals by Jackson Musinguzi and one by Shafiq. James Larombi’s powerful tomahawk strike rounded off the scoring, resulting in a 5-1 win for Wananchi. This victory allowed Wananchi to remain level on points with Weatherhead(40 points) in the race for the league title, although they hold the 2nd position on the log with a slightly less favorable goal difference.

Meanwhile, In the early Saturday kick-off, Makerere showcased their prowess by defeating KHC Originals with a convincing score of 3-0. The star of the match was Makerere’s leading goal scorer, Mathias Akanyihayo, who found the net twice, while Jesse added another goal. Despite a red card for Brian Bayuule of Makerere in the 4th quarter, the team maintained their lead and secured a well-deserved win against the Originals’ side.
The action continued as KHC Stallions faced off against City Lions in the second game of the day. Stallions displayed their dominance, securing a 4-0 victory. Richard Ssemwogerere was the standout player, achieving hattrick, while Mkapa added another goal.This impressive win allowed Stallions to leapfrog Rockets on the league table, claiming the 3rd position. Rockets, on the other hand, slipped to 4th place after their loss to Weatherhead (0-2).Weatherhead’s goals, coming from the league’s top scorer Thomas Opio and Colline Batusa, proved pivotal in securing the win.
The final game on Saturday featured an exciting Women’s tie between Weatherhead Historical ladies and Wananchi HDF. HDF emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-1. The twin sisters, Nakato and Babirye, were the heroes for HDF, contributing two goals and one goal, respectively. Lydia Dhamuzungu scored the consolation goal for Historicals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome HDF’s strong performance.
Sunday’s action was nothing short of thrilling as Weatherhead Gazelles clashed with Wananchi ladies in an intense match that ended 5-3 in favor of the Gazelles. The game featured a flurry of goals, with both teams giving their all. Gloria Amony opened the scoring for Weatherhead, and Racheal equalized for Wananchi. Irene Atim added another for Wananchi, while Gloria struck back for the Gazelles, leveling the score at 2-2 at halftime. Anita Atim then scored the 3rd goal for Weatherhead, as Jolly Alimo added another for Wananchi, resulting in a 3-3 tie at the end of the 3rd quarter. However, in the final quarter, Abigail Brenda and Patience Asiimwe scored for Weatherhead, sealing their 5-3 victory. This win propelled Weatherhead from 3rd to 2nd place on the ladies’ log, displacing Wananchi to 3rd place.
