The Crested Cranes are half way through to the next Round of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers after defeating Cameroon on home soil.

The game was hosted the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru and the ladies got the first part of the job done with a 2:0 victory.

Catherine Nagadya scored the first goal of the game in the 12th Minute after pouncing on a rebound following Shamirah Nalugya’s Free kick.

Their was a lack of Opportunities from both teams in the next minutes and the game seemed to be quiet until the referee made a big call in the 30th minute. She awarded the Cameroon a penalty, but the call is still very debatable.

Vanessa Karungi however came to the rescue of Uganda with the penalty Save and managing to maintain the lead for the Crested Cranes.

Cameroon grew into the game in the second half but couldn’t seem to breach the defense of the Crested Cranes.

Fazila Ikwaput doubled the lead for the Crested Cranes in the 77th minute.

The crested cranes now have a 2:0 advantage and they will be heading to Yaounde, Cameroon for the return leg that will be played on Tuesday.

The winner in both legs will be facing either Nigeria or Ethiopia and the first leg of their game ended in a 1 all draw.
