The FUBA women’s Division 1 climaxed on Monday with the unbeaten UPDF Ladyhawks emerging the champions of the season after completing the sweep against YMCA Lady Hamstars in the Finals.

The team of the season was also named and it did not raise many eyebrows as all the players deserved their spots.

The most important piece of the puzzle for the UPDF Ladyhawks was Stella Maris Lunkuse who exhibited a high level of professionalism and efficiency on top of outstanding performances throughout the season. She was undoubtedly the Most Valuable Player of the season given her outrageous contributions to the title run. She played 611 minutes, had 282 points, 51 assists, 46 steals and 182 rebounds.

The Legends were ruled out of the season from the very start but shocked the fans reaching the playoffs and finishing third. Franceas Nabulobi, endowed with a lot of experience was the orchestrator of the Legends and she also had MVP shouts. She scored 305 points averaging 15 per games and was also the Top Scorer of the Season.

Emerging star of South Sudanese Nationale, Amy Grace Chan, took the league by storm and was rewarded for her exceptional output. She was named the season’s top rebounder and best defensive player. Being one of the tallest in the league, she managed to use her height very well and managed to pick a total of 190 rebounds, 140 defensive and 50 offensive. She also added 24 steals together with 34 blocks (the most).

Tipped to be a future star, Watoto’s Belinda Mia was also in the team of the season. She contributed on both ends of the floor and her IQ of thr game of basketball is like no other. Her ability to always find a way to get past the defense and create for her teammates didn’t go unnoticed and she’s definitely getting better in the future.

Another youngster, Shiphrah Kiranda of Kibuli S.S didn’t not fluke her way to the best five. With her towering height, she managed to pick 126 rebounds, 8.4 RPG (5th). She also scored 237 points, 15.8 PPG (3rd). Shiphrah has also exhibited a lot of skill and at such a young, she will be a force in the near future.

Kibuli S.S was awarded the FAIR Play Award for their consistent exhibition of Sportsmanship throughout the season.
