The Swans Sports Club on 2nd December, 2023 Climaxed the year on a high with their Annual Awards Dinner held at Hotel No.5 in Entebbe.
The Chief Guest was the Uganda Lady Cranes Sevens Coach, Charles Onen who has just led his side to victory at the recently concluded Safari 7s where Uganda Ladycranes 7’s defeated Kenya Lionesses 7’s in the Finals.
The event also saw a very emotional, former Thunderbirds and National star, Samiya Ayikoru announce her return to competitive Rugby after a 4 year break from active participation.
Different Sports personalities were awarded for their outstanding performances, contributions and excellence on and off the pitch.
The most standout player was Malongo Patience who was named the Most Valuable Player for the Entebbe Lady Swans. Patience just finished her grade 13 at Hillside High International School, Bunamwaya but when you see her on the field, one could think she has played Rugby for eons.
She put up marvelous performances for the Entebbe Ladyswans during the Central 7s and helped her side win at the Makerere 7s as well the URU rotary 7’s against Gender based violence.
The Entebbe Ladyswans unfortunately couldn’t qualify for Playoffs after missing out on the MUBS circuit as most of the players like her were writing exams hence were a few points behind Panthers.
Patience together with her teammates Namulondo Damalie, Tiko Latifah, Daphine Nabunya, Bridget Nakalya and Isukali Pamela represented for the Uganda Lady Cranes U20 in the curtain raiser game for the Uganda Rugby Legends against the Kenya Rugby Legends (Legends by Nondies).
Tiko Latifah has also been solid for the Entebbe Lady Swans. With her agility and explosive pace, she easily evaded defenders and also her ability to create for her teammates was underestimated.
She took home the Top scorer award for the Entebbe Lady Swans.
