The Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) games are officially less than 10 days away.

The 19th edition of these games was supposed to have taken place at Makerere University but due to a number of issues, the games were shifted to Uganda Christian University, Mukono and shall take place from 16th to 21st, December.

Multiple sports disciplines shall be taking place and these include, Athletics Track and Field, Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Darts, Football, Handball, Karate, Netball, Rugby 7s, Scrabble, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Woodball ) RADIO BUTTON

This year’s edition will also see an increase in the number of participating University (22) conpared to 19 in the previous edition.

Whereas Soroti University will be making their first appearance at the games, ISBAT, YMCA, St Lawrence University, Cavendish and All Saints University will not be participating in this year’s edition.

The Universities which have so far confirmed their participation include;

11. Makerere University Business School

15. Uganda Christian University,
16. Uganda Martyrs University
17. University of Kisubi
18. Victoria University
19. Mountain of the Moon University
20. Soroti University
21. Bishop Stuart University
22. Makerere University

The 18th edition took place at University of Kisubi (UNIK) in 2019 and Ndejje University emerged overall winners followed by Uganda Christian University (UCU) and Makerere University respectively.

UCU who now have the home advantage will be out to retaining the title at home, while Ndejje, who also won the East Africa University Games in 2022, will be out to defend their crown.

Makerere University, being in the exam period will not send a very big contingent like is usually the case and it will also participate in a few sporting disciplines.

Makerere will only participate in Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Handball, Rugby, Swimming, Tennis and Volleyball.

Sports like Chess, Scrabble, Darts, Karate, woodball, Table Tennis and Badminton in which Makerere has been dominant in the past years, they will not be having athletes participating this time round.
