In a captivating showcase of skill and determination, the Makerere University tennis team recently participated in the AUUS games hosted by UCU Mukono, leaving an indelible mark on the competition. The team, comprising Owomuhangi Christiana, Kisakye Juliet, Agiemo Paul, Joel Mwisuke, and Ojiambo Emmanuel, demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and talent on the courts.

Joel Mwisuke, representing Makerere University in the singles final, faced the formidable Trevor Kazibwe of UCU. Despite a valiant effort, Joel lost 2-0 to Trevor, securing a well-deserved silver medal. In the doubles final, Joel paired up with Agiemo Paul against Trevor Kazibwe and Arnold McGarry. The Makerere duo fought fiercely, eventually succumbing to their opponents with a scoreline of 2-1, earning another silver medal for the team.

On the women’s side, Owomuhangi Christiana showcased determination and skill in the singles category, earning a commendable bronze medal. However, the highlight came in the doubles event, where Owomuhangi partnered with Kisakye Juliet to reach the finals. Despite losing 2-0 to the formidable team from Victoria University, Owomuhangi and Kisakye displayed sportsmanship and tenacity, securing a silver medal for Makerere University.

Kisakye Juliet, an integral player in both the singles and doubles events, exhibited commendable prowess throughout the championship. Her collaboration with Owomuhangi Christiana in the doubles category showcased the depth of talent within the Makerere University tennis team.


Adding to the narrative, the Makerere University women’s team faced a tough challenge against Victoria University’s Jovia and Patience, ultimately succumbing to their opponents. The resilience displayed by the Muk ladies in the face of formidable competition is a testament to their dedication and competitive spirit.

UCU, the host university, had a formidable lineup that included Ainembabazi Ngabirano and Mac Don, who were part of the gold medal-winning team. Their stellar performances contributed significantly to UCU’s success in the championship.

Ojiambo Emmanuel, the fifth member of the Makerere University tennis team, played a crucial role in the team’s overall performance, providing support and camaraderie.

The Makerere University tennis team’s participation in the AUUS games not only showcased their competitive spirit but also highlighted the dedication and talent within the squad.
