The Uganda Rugby Cranes squad to represent at the upcoming Dubai 7s has been announced and there were no major surprises.

The return of Desire Ayera “fan favorite” has been the perhaps the most exciting news for the fans.

Desire, who had been a rock solid player in the squad sustained a shoulder injury during the Stone City 7s in Jinja, that kept him away from the team for the Africa Men’s Sevens and Safari 7s.

Despite the major setback, he managed to work his way back to full fitness and brought himself back in contention, giving the coach a little bit of headache during the team selection.

Timothy Kisiga has also returned to the side after missing out on Africa Men’s 7s and Safari 7s.

Due to work commitments, Kisiga did not partake in the Africa Men’s Sevens and made exploits with the 15’s Rugby Cranes for the Victoria Cup, Elgon Cup and test games in Tunisia.

His experience from the 15’s will be crucial part of his game that he’ll bring to the 7’s and it could potentially turn out as the game changer.

Another notable inclusion was the sensational youngster Roy Kizito. Roy made his debut at the Safari 7s in which he played like a superstar that he’s going to become. Every time the ball found his hands, he looked like he was going to create something magical and he the top try scorer of the tournament.

Roy has been handed another opportunity to prove that he can compete at the highest and with the absence of Norbert Okeny ( minor ankle injury) who is normally the go to finisher, Roy will have an opportunity to get experience under his belt and also showcase his talent on the global stage.

Ian Munyani will Captain the squad with Aaron Ofoyrwoth as his vice.

The Rugby Cranes will look to try and make their first semi final appearance and given that they are in the group with two other contenders in, Kenya and Germany, the Lad will have all to play once they go past the group stage.
