Having been swept in the 2023 NBL quarter finals, the KCCA Leopards had a look into their hearts and decided to make some serious transfer business that could bring them into contention in 2024.

One of the biggest pieces they acquired is Perus Nyamwenge from the KIU Rangers and on Friday, as the Leopards took on the Lady Canons, she was the one leading the charges in getting revenge against the Lady Canons.

She had twelve (12) first half points, as the KCCA Leopards took an eight (8) point lead heading into half time.

The UCU Lady Canons tried to fight back bringing the game within 3 points but the Leopards weren’t about to give up their lead.

They closed the quarter with a 7:0 run to make it an eighteen (18) point going into the final quarter.

Perus, who had played well in the first half turned up more in the third quarter, scoring eleven (11).

The first 2:30 minutes of the fourth were worrisome as neither team scored a point and time was running out for the Lady Canons.

The game came to life after that with both teams trading buckets but the momentum was not in any way shifting towards the UCU Lady Canons.

The UCU Lady Canons were punched hard that they failed to score a field goal in first 2:25 and in the last 4 minutes of the game.

Talking points

The KCCA Leopards had very active hands, managing to get 16 steals. On the other hand, it wasn’t really very good for the UCU Lady Canons, who gave away 28 turnovers, 2 shy from their previous game against UPDF Lady Tomahawks and they were punished for that with 26 points off Turnovers for the KCCA Leopards. Perus Nyamwenge and Sylvester Kazibwe were the very good on the night defensively, as they managed to get a combined 8 steals in the game.

The Lady Canons experienced so many struggles, points from the Free throw line also evading them and as a result, they scored just 7 of the 18 attempts.
