Livingstone bagged their second win of the season after edging 2023 semi finalists, Our Savior in a very tense and action packed game.

With 16 seconds left, Livingstone  lead by 4 points and signs pointed to game done for them. Fortunately for them, Amara Ariho is called for an unsportsmanlike and out of the blue, there’s a chance for Our Savior to win it or even send the game to overtime.

Trevor Mutyaba makes the 2 free throws, making it a 1 possession game and as expected, Coach calls a timeout.

The Our Savior return and have one mission to make the basket or possibly draw a foul and go the Free throw line.

Trevor Mutyaba gets the ball, attacks the basket, the ball rolls on the rim and out it goes, Diopa Durocher with the defensive rebound and capping off the win for Livingstone.

It had been a close game from the get go with Our Savior in the lead but Livingstone kept within touching distance.

Tables turned in the final 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter when Livingstone made a 12:3 run to establish a 6 point lead.

It was a battle in the final quarter but both teams lacked sharpness. A total 13 turnovers from both teams in the final quarter just about paints the whole picture of how it was messy but Livingstone managed to hold on and see out a 61:63 victory.

Talking points

Our Savior failed to capitalise from the free throw line. They scored 8/21, 38%, the lowest in the league so far. Our Savior had an opportunity to see off this game more so in the first half but with the poor efficiency from the line, it was always going to be a tough game for them to close out.

Livingstone’s bench Michael Kuol (6 pts) and Isaac Athuai (8 pts) were the game changers each scoring big buckets  that changed the game around for Livingstone.

They had the highest +/- despite playing less than 20 minutes each.  Michael (+9), Isaac (+12).

Livingstone now have 2 wins in 5 games while Our Savior who had started with 3 wins in 3 have now suffered back to back losses.

Our Savior shall return to action on Sunday against KCCA Panthers who are also seeking their second victory of the season.
