In a thrilling display of talent, the 2024 Electro Kampala Hockey Club School’s Festival unfolded at Kings College Budo on Saturday 2nd March 2024. The event drew a formidable crowd of schools, with 11 competitive boys’ teams(i.e. Kings College Budo A and B, St. Mary’s College Kisubi A and B, Namilyango College A and B, Kyadondo SS, Busoga College Mwiri, St. Julian SS, Naalya SS and Ntare School) and 6 spirited girls’ teams (Kings College Budo A and B, Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga, St. Julian SS, Kyadondo SS and Naalya SS) vying for glory.

Split into groups A and B, the boys battled for a top spot to book a slot in the final playoff to determine the champions. On the other hand, the girls engaged in a round-robin format, with the top two teams gearing up for a showdown to claim victory.

The action unfolded on a bright Saturday morning, starting with a gripping match between girls of Kings College Budo A and Kings College Budo B, with Kings College Budo B securing a 2-0 win, setting a dynamic pace for the day ahead.

Following an eventful day of approximately 40 games, Kings College Budo Team B led the girls’ category, with Namagunga securing second place ahead of St. Julian SS impressively holding their ground as underdogs, finishing the tournament undefeated with five draws out of the five games played.

In a thrilling final match, Kings College Budo B faced off against the formidable Namagunga girls. The intense showdown ended in a 1-1 draw after normal time, setting the stage for an exhilarating shootout.

With the home advantage on their side, Kings College Budo emerged victorious, sending their supporters into shouts of jubilation. This triumph marked a historic moment as the girls secured the trophy for the first time, dethroning the defending champions, Namagunga.

In the boys’ category, Naalya SS clinched a finals spot through superior goal difference over Ntare school having finished the group ties level on points(11 points a piece).

They faced off against St. Mary’s College Kisubi A, the top finishers of Group B. The match ended in a goalless draw, leading to a dramatic shootout that saw SMACK emerge as the victors of the boys’ 10th Edition of the KHC School’s Festival.
