The U23 3×3 National teams shall be traveling to Accra, Ghana for the ongoing All Africa games on the 16th, Saturday.
The team had their final training session on Friday, 15th March at Lugogo Indoor Arena, and with the look of things, everything is set ahead of their flight on Saturday.
The men’s team includes, Ian Lubwama, a guard for the JT Jaguars averaging 10 points,4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.7 steals on the season, UCU Canons duo Marvin Jesse (8.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists) and Joel Kayiira (8.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1 assist), who recently made his debut for the Silverbacks during the Afrobasket qualifiers and Peter Obleng who hasn’t featured this season.

The women’s team includes UCU Lady Canons duo Shillah Lamunu Aber (6.1 pts, 6.8 reb,3 ast, 3 stl) and Bridget Aber (6.5 pts, 8.4 reb, 1.4 ast, 1 stl), KIU Rangers’ Mary Moses Amaniyo (14.6 pts, 13.1, 2.3 ast and 2.4 stl) and JKL Lady Dolphins’ center Becky Keren Longom (9.4 pts, 11.4 reb, 1.8 ast & 50% FG).

The men are in Pool C with Togo, DR Congo, and Burkina Faso. The Ladies are also in Pool C with Benin, Nigeria, and Togo.

The team has been training for 4 days and the players have different expectations ahead of the tournament.

Jesse Okurut commented on the team chemistry given the little time they had training together. “I’ve grown up with these boys, i studied with Obleng, I’m with Kayiira at UCU, we train with Duncan during offseason, it is a collection of people who know each other already”
