Since their inception, the JT Lady Jaguars haven’t found a way past the KIU Rangers.  For the seventh consecutive time, the KIU Rangers turned out triumphant against the Kira-based side.

The Lady Jaguars led the game after the first quarter 16:3. Mercy Batamuliza collected 8 rebounds and added 6 points, a great start for her.

Ines Kanyamuneza made 3 3-point shots in the second quarter and a total 10 points to help the Rangers take an 8-point lead with 1:33 left.

There was also a bit of drama just before the end of the quarter after coach Sudi Ulanga received 2 technical fouls and was ejected. However, his side seemed to have used this to their advantage and they went on to make a 6-0 run to close the half with a 2-point deficit.

Sharon Kirabo took over in the third quarter, she scored 9 of the team’s 13 and 6 rebounds to that. It was a team effort from the Lady Jaguars, Brenda Kayaga with 2 3-point shots on a spin, Among Annet and Mercy Batamuliza all contributing.

In the fourth, the Rangers made a 9-0  run and made it an 11-point run with about 5 minutes left.

Despite trailing, the game was still their for the taking but the Lady Jaguars, who were without their coach on the sideline were short of tactics and thus lost the game.

Talking points

Sharon Kirabo showed how special she is, taking over the game offensively when their top scorer, Ines Kanyamuneza was in foul trouble.

Mary Amaniyo,  Ines and Sharon Kirabo all had 4 fouls each and their minutes had to be restricted.  Despite all that, they still found a way to win, what a victory that was for them.

The Lady Jaguars boast of the best defense in the league but their offense is not good. That has been the story all season long and they need to get a scorer soon.
