The Kampala Rockets have set themselves apart as one of the best teams currently in the NBL and they showed this once again after dropping 100 points on the JKL Dolphins in a must-win game.
The Kampala Rockets came into the game on the back of a loss to Power, a team that is also in battle for survival and they weren’t about to lose back-to-back crucial games.
The JKL Dolphins came into the game on the back of a huge loss to the City Oilers and were looking at getting their 5th win of the season.
The Kampala Rockets took care of business in the first half as they outscored JKL Dolphins 25:40 and had a 15-point lead.
Adut Mayer and Ruai Luak set the pace in the first quarter after scoring a combined 17 points which was 2 more than the entire JKL team.
The Dolphins took the third and made it a 12-point game, but the Kampal Rockets stamped their authority in the fourth quarter with a dominant performance, scoring 37 points and the game ending 74:100.
Chrstian Ndibu came alive offensively scoring 12 points and Ruai Luak was back on fire with 12 points of his own.
Talking Points
The Kampala Rockets won just a single game in round one but with 4 wins in 5 games in the second round, the Rockets have shown that they aren’t just looking at surviving relegation but could be in the conversation during the playoffs.
Their new signings particularly Christian Ndibu and Ruai Luak elevated them to great heights both offensively and defensively. Luak averages a double-double, 17 points (the highest in the league), 10.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 3.5 steals.
Ndibu also averages a double-double with 10.8 points, 13.3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. This shows how much the Kampala Rockets have set themselves apart. They have 2-way players, who will guarantee you points and rebounds.
The fact that Puati Ozias, the league’s top rebounder with 14.8 rebounds and 13.9 points makes the Kampala Rockets look even much scarier.

They registered the highest rebounds in a game with 80, against the Kampala Rockets. Luak, Ozias, and Ndibu combined for 48 of the team’s 80 points.
Luak has been effective at finishing at the rim, but his 3-point shooting has been horrible. He has scored just 1 of 39 attempts but he has found ways to affect the game and score as many as he can from inside the perimeter. The positive news is that the Kampala Rockets have been able to create for him and once he gets in his groove, they can defeat any team in the league.
The Rockets take on Livingstone, Our Savior, and JT Jaguars in their next 3 games. With their current form, they should get at least 2 wins in those games, and they will bolster their chances of making the playoffs.
