The Namuwongo Blazers will be out to complete the double against the City Oilers as the two teams meet on Friday 21st at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The City Oilers have lost a single game this season and it came against rivals Namuwongo Blazers with whom they shall be sparring on Friday.

Since that game, the Oilers and Nam Blazers have all made big adjustments to their squads. The Oilers released 3 of their veteran players who were the backbone of the team and the new team Captains were named, Ivan Muhwezi assisted by Fayed Baale.

The team had yet to make a big test and for many, the game against Namuwongo Blazers is the ultimate test to see if this team still has enough to make it 10 Championships in a row.

The Namuwongo Blazers had a shaky start to the second round but they managed to get results. However, in their previous game, they lost to the KIU Titans in game that went down to the final shot.

Expected Matchups

Fayed Baale vs Jimmy Williams is going to be one of the biggest matchups during the game. Jimmy is so much superior when it comes to size and height compared to Fayed Baale but Fayed’s speed and agility will have to help him a lot.

During the game against KIU Titans, we saw Joel Lukoji and Jimmy going up against each other and Jimmy did not have a very good game despite having a 16 points, and 13 rebounds double-double. He shot 5/15, 33% FG which his team will need him to up if they are to take down City Oilers.

Jimmy also has to take strong drives, it will be very difficult for Fayed to stop him physically but Namuwongo’s open players have to be able to knock down the shots when the ball is kicked out to them.

For Fayed, his speed will be his biggest weapon, and also every time he finds teammates in good spots, they ought to capitalize.

Ivan Muhwezi vs Joseph Chuma

Both players like to shoot the ball and their areas of operation are a distance from the basket.  Ivan Muhwezi averages 9.5 attempts per game but 5.1, 54% of them are from the 3-point line.

With Tonny Drileba, James Okello, and Jimmy Enabu gone, Ivan will be one of the biggest offensive weapons and his attempts are expected to increase. In the last game against the JT Jaguars, he took 15 attempts and 6 of them were from the 3-point line.

Joseph Chuma has been one of the most lethal shooters in the league and the Oilers will have to try as much as they can to stop him.

Most of his work shall be to try and stop Ivan Muhwezi and given his height and wingspan, he has no excuse but to work and make it difficult for Ivan to get off shots.

The Namuwongo Blazers still have chance of securing the number one seed but for that to remain a possibility, they need to win the game against Oilers and pray that City Oilers and KIU Titans both lose more games.
