This game was similar to the ancient bible story of Goliath vs the Israelites and without their own David or a Miracle, it was always going to be very hard to see UPDF cause a threat in this game and as expected, the Lady Dolphins sailed past them with ease.

For many, it was an even first half compared to what had been anticipated. The JKL Lady Dolphins led the game 37-27 but they hadn’t been as dominant as many would have expected but also the UPDF Lady Dolphins put up a bit of a fight.

However, in the third quarter, the 3-time champions put daylight between them and the newbies as they outscored them 31:13 and making it a 28-point game.

The pressure of the game got to the Ladyhawks and they began making numerous mistakes. From turnovers, poor shot selection, and even Free throws. In the third quarter alone, UPDF missed 11 of 12 free throw attempts and that summed up their performance in the quarter.

With the game out of reach for UPDF, the Lady Dolphins gave a couple of minutes to their other players like Shamilah Nakiyaga, Generous Grant, and others and they closed out the game, 95:59.

Talking Points

The JKL Lady Dolphins duo Jane Asinde and Hope Akello were named the new Captains of the Gazelles trip to Germany. Their new roles will hopefully make them better leaders on and off the and it will impact their individual and team performances at JKL.
Even though it was always going to be a tough game, the UPDF Ladies did not help the situation. They missed 13 of 19 free throws and when you’re the underdog, those are points you must collect.
