The Uganda U23 women’s 3×3 team is on the verge of qualifying for the 3×3 World Cup that will in be Mongolia on September.

The Ladies have won 3 of the 4 stops that have been played so far and they are in strong contention of winning the overall prize.

During stop 4 on Friday, Uganda played Benin in their pool and the winner had to advance. Benin knew that defeating Uganda would bring them closer to the top and they started the game with such force.

With 3 minutes left, they led the game 10:6 and the situation was not going well for Uganda and the fans were all quiet.

However, Lydia Babirye scored a couple of buckets and Becky Longom delivered the final stroke, tying the game and scoring the winner with 13 seconds left.

  2. Benin 310 pts
  3. Algeria 300 pts
  4. Burkina Faso 230 pts
  5. South Africa 170 pts

For Benin to win overall, they have  to win the two remaining stops and pray that Uganda finishes at most fourth in the 2 remaining stops.

With the way Uganda is playing, its seems unlikely that they will not qualify because so far in the tournament, they have lost just one game and are still going strong.
