Ahead of the U18 African Championship, Hoops Dreamz has become the first sponsor of FUBA for the U18 teams after injecting in 11 million Uganda shillings.
This comes after FUBA started a campaign dubbed “Hoops for Hope” in which they were calling upon sponsors, partners and well-wishers to contribute to towards the preparation and activities of the U18 teams.
Hoops Dreamz was the first organization to respond to the cry and they came on board with a sponsorship worth 11 million. The money was handed by Hoops Dreamz Progams Director Mary Nakitende and Sports Director Allen Namiya to FUBA General Secretary Hudson Ssegamwenge and U18 team Manager Barbra Okot.

Hoops Dreamz is a sports program under iCARRe Foundation from Baltimore Maryland USA with a visionary leadership of Mr. Rodney Carr, a passionate community leader, basketball coach and a philanthropist.
They cater for Youth in Baltimore, Maryland Metropolitan Area, Washington DC Metropolitan Area, Uganda and Tanzania offering a range of programs that address diverse needs.
Hoops Dreamz also works with Holy Street Basketball Academy that is based in the slums of Kawempe and they are partnering on the Holy Street 3×3 basketball Tournament for the U14 and U18 boya and Girls that will be happening on 14th September.
When asked about what pushed them to come on board, the Sports Director Allen Namiya gave these remarks.
“The love of Basketball and wanting to be part of basketball in Uganda. We are dedicated to elevating Youth basketball through many programs and one of them is to sponsor and to see that there is a motivation for young people to push on their talent”
“One of the biggest challenges that the National teams have been facing is the finances and the little we put together, we think it will make a very big difference cater for something for the days the players are going to be in South Africa”
The U18 Boys and Girls shall be travelling to take part in the FIBA U18 African Championship in Pretoria South Africa from 2nd to 14th September.
FUBA is still calling upon all organizations, companies, individuals to keep contributing towards the cause. All donations will help Uganda’s U18 teams with travel, accommodation, training camp. Gear and equipment during the 2024 FIBA U18 African Championship.
