The KIU Titans have made history after qualifying for back-to-back NBL finals for the very first time.

This comes after they defeated the Namuwongo Blazers in the deciding Game 5, which was settled in overtime.

After the Namuwongo Blazers leveled the series with their 75:68 victory against the KIU Titans on Thursday 22nd, the stage was set for an intense showdown in a deciding game 5.

After the first quarter, the game was tied at 20 a piece, showing how intent both teams were on getting the win.

By halftime, the KIU Titans led the game 41:38 but it was Peter Obleng who was running riot with 16 points to his name.

Peter Cheng also scored big buckets for the Namuwongo Blazers and by halftime, he had amassed 14 points with a perfect record 4/4 from 3-point range.

The Nam Blazers trailed for most of the second half but in the latter stages of the game, they took the lead and looked the most likely team to come away with the win.

With 14.2 seconds left in the game, the Namuwongo Blazers led the game 73:71 and the KIU Titans had an opportunity to tie the game or possibly take the lead.

Kasereka Tembo attempted a 3-point shot which was contested very well by Paul Odong but he was able to get his rebound and was fouled with 5 seconds left.

It was a very tense situation as Tembo went to the Free throw line with a chance to tie the game and he made no mistake scoring both which sent the game to overtime.

The KIU Titans scored a couple of baskets in overtime but their ability to collect rebounds was the most important thing.

They managed to secure all the defensive Rebounds and also picked up a couple of offensive ones, the biggest resulting in a basket for Edgar Munaba with 10 seconds left.

The KIU Titans when on to secure the victory 81:78 and advance advanced to the NBL Finals.
