On so many occasions, there has been a lot of recklessness exhibited by officials and administrators in Ugandan basketball and many people ask themselves, who is accountable for such ‘petty’ mistakes.
On Saturday 7th September, the FUBA Division One returned after having been postponed for a week and there was a major incident in the final game of the weekend between Rezlife Saints and the UPDF Tomahawks.
Before that, on Saturday at Nakasero Primary School, one of the venues for the day, the game between Makerere Sparks and Angels, which was supposed to start at 9:00 am started more than 30 minutes late because the equipment arrived late.
This has been a recurrent thing and one always wonders, why does the same wrong thing happen over and over again?
On Sunday at YMCA, the opening game between Angels and Amazon Rhinos started 2 hours late because of delay of equipment.
So many teams and players are frustrated by this lateness and so many other things but for some reason, there is never a change, why?
During the game between Rezlife Saints and UPDF, chaos broke out after a ‘wrong decision’ had been made by the referees.
The Rezlife Saints made a 3-point shot which would have brought them to within 9 points but the referees said the ball did not go in.
Why did the referees make this decision?
The net on the rim was torn and it was very difficult to be sure whether the shot went in or not. Even the fans in the stands were having debates as to whether the shot went in or not but how can we, as a league have such low standards.

Throughout the day, the net had been used but how can’t FUBA manage to put a good net yet teams pay money for all this?
Is this what Uganda as a Nation is trying to show the world about who they are?
Is it because it is the lower Division? If it was the NBL, would we have experienced this?
Who is responsible for that? Who will be held accountable for such recklessness yet a lot is at stake for these teams?
How can such recklessness be wiped out of FUBA?
