The Uganda U23 3×3 Women’s team  started their campaign at the World Cup that is ongoing in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia.

This is the second team to reach this level after Uganda played at the 2018 Edition in China where now Gazelles Captains, Jane Asinde and Hope Akello and Jamila Nansikombi plus Ritah Imanishimwe represented.

That was the first year that the U23 3×3 World Cup was played and Uganda was the only African country that represented that year.

The team started this year’s campaign against fellow Africans, Egypt and they fell short losing 18-10.

Becky Longom and Mary Nambogo led the scoring for Uganda with 5 and 4 points respectively but it was disappointing that Uganda did not score any 2-point shot.

The team returned 2 hours later with their second game against Netherlands and once again, they fell short with a 19-6 loss.

Becky Longom scored 3 points while Nambogo made the only 2-point shot for Uganda.

Netherlands scored 8 points from outside and they were a big threat outside the perimeter.

The chances of qualifying to the quarter-finals are now very meager but things can work out in their favor.

The team will play against Chile and France on 14th for their final group games.
