Mary Amaniyo joined the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP) Miners for the upcoming 2024-2025 College Season.
Amaniyo was formerly with the KIU Rangers for the past 2 seasons and in 2024, she helped her side reach the semifinals of the National Basketball League.
She is one of the few players that averaged a double-double in the 2024 season and her top individual performance came against the JT Lady Jaguars on the opening day when she dropped 25 points and 20 rebounds.

She played 25 games, starting 24 of those and she averaged 13.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 2 steals.
Amaniyo also helped Uganda qualify for the U23 3×3 World Cup after putting up great performances but was unfortunate not to play all the stops after getting an injury.
She was also unavailable for the KIU Rangers in the semifinals and her absence left a very big hole that couldn’t be filled and they lost in, 3-1 to the UCU Lady Canons.
Amaniyo joins a UTEP side where the current Gazelles Captain Jane Asinde just graduated from and a place where she set many records in her one year there.
Priscilla Abby, another Gazelles player will be with Amaniyo in Texas after her transfer from Grayson College.
Mary joins several other Uganda players that have passed through the College system in the U.S and there will be a lot of expectations for her.
