Busitema University and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) will tussle out in their opening game of the 2024 UFL on Friday 20th at 3:00 pm in Busia
Busitema University coach Abdulnoor Musisi says his squad need to set themselves the highest possible goal if they are to advance past the group stages.
It has been three consecutive seasons that the Baboons haven’t moved past the group stages, but Musisi, beaming with confidence, says the team is looking for nothing short of a victory against IUIU as the Baboons aim at breaking the jinx of getting booted out in group stages.
“We are all looking forward to the first home game, we have been successful in the past two seasons at our grounds. It’s been our fortress and we want it to be hard for opponents” said Musisi.

“We are fully prepared. We know we have not given our fans what they deserve. This is now the time to give them what they really deserve”
Busitema’s best finish in the University Football League was a run to the quarter-finals in which they lost to Uganda Christian University 9-1 on aggregate in 2019 but Musisi believes the set target should galvanize the players this time a round.
However, they face Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), which has greatly improved over the last few seasons only missing the quarterfinals by a whisker and they are eager to do better this season.
“Our purpose this season is to at least advance to the quarter finals and this season I know we can do better,” IUIU coach, Harouna Kebba said.
“It’s true we struggled on the road last season and at home we were superb therefore we are going to improve on the results away from home and probably brighten our purpose this season starting with a win against our neighbors Busitema” Kebba added
