The Nkumba Lady Marines strengthened their hold on the number one seed after a very big 80:44 victory against Legends on Wednesday 25th at YMCA.

Nkumba who lost their second round opener against Our Savior seem to have corrected all their wrongs and are now in autopilot.

They have won all their last 3 games and have a already clinched a playoff spot but they still fight to maintain the number one seed.

Nkumba started their game against Legends in high gear as they applied the full court press early on.

They managed to take the first quarter 16:7 but Legends found a solution in the second quarter.

Legends begun passing the ball more with less dribbles and they managed to beat the press.

Despite this, Nkumba was still on the front foot and they made a 10-0 during the second quarter to make it a 15-point game.

Legends closed the half with a 3-point shot from Nabulobi Francaes and they came within 10 points.

Legends defense upped the level and they limited Nkumba to 0 points in the first 4 minutes of the third quarter.

At thr same time, they managed to make a 7-0 run and the game became 32:35 with 16 minutes left in the game.

The Lady Marines applied the press once again and it paid off heavily. They scored 11 points in the next 2 minutes to take the lead to 14 points.

They also forced Legends into 6 turnovers in that time, a sign that the defense was effective.

In the final quarter, the Lady Marines maintained the pressure and Legends kept making turnovers which Nkumba capitalized on and won the game 80:44.

Legends made 17 turnovers in the fourth quarter alone which was twice the points they scored.
