The Lady Cranes teams to represent at the 2024 Safari Sevens in Machakos were named, and the biggest surprise call-up was of Samiya Ayikoru.
The 2-time USPA Rugby Female Player of the Year took a hiatus from Rugby in 2021 but announced her during the Swans End of Year Dinner in 2023.
Ayikoru’s last engagement with the National was in 2021 when Uganda hosted the Women’s Rugby Africa Cup but she will be representing once again on the Lady Cranes Select Team a the Safari 7s.
Uganda shall be having 2 teams, the official Lady Cranes team and the Lady Cranes Select Squad.
The Lady Cranes team won the 2023 edition and they will be out to defend their title.

Avengers Hooker Fazira Namukwaya will make her debut for the National Sevens team but she already has a number of caps under her belt for the 15s team.
Tina Akello who made her debut at the Willem Strauss 7s in South Africa in September will be joining the team once again and her craftiness and ingenuity will be key for the team.
Grace Auma missed out on last year’s edition and also missed most of the circuits during the Nile Special 7s but she is back in the team.
Notable misses for the team include the Captain Peace Lekuru, Sarah Kirabo and Ritta Nadunga.
The Lady Cranes Select Team includes 3 She Wolves youngsters, Sunday Aniwroth, Namulimbwa Habiba and Wilembe Gladys.
Lady Cranes Prop showed what she’s made off after making big carries during the Nile Special 7s, and that earned her a call-up for the National 7s.
The women shall play in a round robin form and the 4 other teams include; Shogun, Kenya Lionesses, Costa Blanca Barbarians and Kenya Cubs.
