The JKL Lady Dolphins secured their second victory at the Africa Women’s Basketball League Qualifiers in Amaan, Zanzibar after getting an 87-55 win against Vijana Queens from Tanzania.

The first quarter was close but the Lady Dolphins were in the lead, 21-14.

Becky Longom was doing most of the damage in the first quarter and she looked very fired up.

The second quarter was the breaking point for the Tanzanian side.

They were restricted to just 6 points and JKL scored 25 points, garnering a 26-point lead at halftime.

Vijana took the third quarter 21-15 and they looked like they had made a couple of adjustments.

Quick transition was working for them and their defense looked better than it did in the second quarter but they still had a mountain to climb.

The Lady Dolphins squashed any hopes of a comeback that Vijana Queens had in the fourth quarter.

The Ugandan side limited Vijana to just 4 points in the final 5 minutes of the game and they managed to secure the victory, 87-55.

Talking points

The contingent that traveled by Bus arrived on Monday night but Becky Longom who was a part of that did not show any signs of exhaustion.

She dominated from the first quarter, led the game in scoring, rebounding, steals, and blocks.

Perus Nyamwenge and Sharon  Nangobi (Kirabo) also got their chance.

With these 2 victories under their belt, the JKL Lady Dolphins have advanced to the next stage their final group game will determine who tops the group.

They will take on Al Ahly (Egypt) on Wednesday 30th at 11:00 who are also unbeaten to determine the group winner.
