The Uganda National Netball (She Cranes) team will be competing at the Netball Africa Cup from 9th to 14th in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The team recently participated in the Fast 5 World Series, where they registered big victories, 46-42 against South Africa, 43-26 against Jamaica, and 31-25 against England.

With their confidence booming, the She Cranes will be aiming to win their fourth continental championship.

They will be competing against Namibia (Hosts), South Africa, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

A 14 women team was named to represent and of these, 10 play in the National Basketball League.

Mercy Batamuliza had a stellar season for the JT Jaguars and she was named in the Top 5 team of the season. She was also the top Rebounder in the season.

Shadiah Nassanga did not feature heavily as she joined the Lady Dolphins in the second round but she’s definitely one to watch out fkr in the future.

Faridah Kadondi had a wonderful first round with the KCCA Leopards, but after being away for a while, she returned to the playoffs when her team was struggling.

She also recently made a move to a newly formed English club, Nottingham Forrest Netball, where she will be playing in 2025.

Christine Nakito also had a wonderful season with the Magic Stormers, averaging 5.2 points, 10 rebounds, 2.9 steals, and 1.4 assists. She’s also among the few people who registered a triple-double in the 2024 season.

Margaret Bagaala scored the most points in a game in the 2024 season with 40, and she averaged 11.7 points, 1.8 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.9 steals.

Aya Gloria will be making her debut for the She Cranes but her contribution but also her contribution for Kampala University during the NBL season was substantial.

She was arguably their top performer with an average of 7.5 points , 9 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Increasingly, there have been many athletes who thrive in both Basketball and Netball and the trend will keep going just like it has been.
