The top-of-the-table clash between SC Ensayi and SC Kalele ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and in many ways, one would say it is a fair result for both teams.

Both Ensayi and Kalele had each lost one game this season ahead of this game, a win for either would have put them in a much more comfortable position as the #RoadtoFortPortal dream lives on.

In the first half, both teams kept it tight defensively, with big chances hard to come by, but when it came, Kalele’s talisman made no mistake.

Ampurire Romfield struck from close range with his left foot and was able to find the bottom right corner to give SC Kalele the lead.

Ensayi was on the hunt throughout the second half and when their moment finally came, the referee made a ‘controversial’ call that upset many Ensayi fans and players.

Matter of fact, the game stalled for more than 10 minutes as Ensayi people were pleading their case and even brought video evidence but the decision had already been made.

Ensayi got a big break with a beautiful through pass and the striker was left with the goalkeeper.  However, the keeper came rushing out and the striker went for the chip which the goalkeeper read and was able to save it.

A moment later, there appeared to be an apparent collision between the striker and goalkeeper but at the same time, Ensayi’s Baguma Junior had the ball with an empty net ahead of him.

Just before he shot, the referee blew the whistle, and that meant that whatever he did wouldn’t count, but nevertheless, he found the back of the net.

This caused a lot of commotion. Ensayi was saying there was no foul on the goalkeeper, and the referee needn’t have blown his whistle.

Nonetheless, after a long while, the game resumed and the hunt for an equalizer was still on.

In the final seconds of the game, the 2012 cohort finally got what they had been searching for, an equalizer.

Ampaire Hannington dribbled past 3 defenders and made a powerful shot from a distance, which was saved by the goalkeeper.

Muburi Rafsanjani tried to score the rebound but was also denied by the goalkeeper and finally, substitute Emmanuel Kirunga found the back on the net after pouncing on the second rebound.

With this, the game came to a conclusion 1-1 and both teams remained in the top 5 places.

Ensayi is currently third with 26 points from 11 games while Kalele is in 5th place with 24 points in 11 games.

TY Omujuma is in the driving seat with 28 points from 10 games.

SC Ensayi and Machando are the only teams in the top 5 to have never won the Ntare Nile League Shield.
