The final 12 Gazelles players who will represent Uganda at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Zone V Qualifiers in Cairo, Egypt, have been revealed.
A 15-man team was summoned and has been training from Tuesday, the 21st, till Thursday, the 30th.
In the first week, they had their sessions at the Lugogo Indoor Arena and one session at ABJA Parks in Naalya.
Perus Nyamwenge, who was part of the initial squad opted out due to work commitments and was replaced by U18 star Bushira Namayanja.
On the 27th, the team moved into a residential camp in Nakirebbe and while there, Jamila Nansinkombi joined them.
Of the 15 team players that were summoned, only 12 were in camp and the other 3 will join the selected 9 in Cairo.
Sharon Kirabo and youngsters Zoe Atek and Sarah Namale are the 3 players that were dropped.

The team departed for Cairo on Friday 31st at about 1 am and touched at about 11:00 am.
Mellisa, Paige, and Claire are the 3 players that will join the squad in Egypt.
The game tip-off on 3rd February and shall conclude on 8th.
In 2023, Uganda hosted the Qualifiers and was defeated in the finals by Egypt. However, they managed to qualify as a wildcard and made a 7th-place finish at the continental Championship.
This time around, only one slot is available and it is winner takes it all.
