The JKL Lady Dolphins emerged the Champions of the Inaugural Western Basketball Club Championship after defeating UPDF Lady Tomahawks in the 2 games they faced off.
The tournament saw only 2 ladies’ teams show up, and as a result, they faced off in 2 games, but it turned out to be easy wins for the current NBL Champions.
In game one, JKL registered a comfortable 76-45 victory despite fielding only 8 players.
In the scorching sun, UPDF opted for a man-to-man, and JKL easily got past them.
Tamasha Nsubuga was having the time of her life as they kept giving her fast breaks which she made sure to complete.
In the second game, JKL once again won 43-24 hit this time around, the game was shorter as it was being dark.

JKL fielded players from various teams: Susan Aanyu and Sharua Idris from KCCA Leopards, their former player Gimono, and one other.
For the first time, we saw Zainah Angellah Lokwameri in a JKL Lady Dolphins uniform once again and her energy and enthusiasm carried the team in stretches.
When asked about the players from other teams, JKL’s Tamasha had this to say;
“It was on short notice and we had to add in some players to make a team”
She also commented on the game against UPDF,
“The game was very physical but as JKL, we had to push to win”

UPDF Lady Tomahawks’ Coach Ashaba Ronnie also had some reactions about the game;
“These were trial games. It is a good build-up for the season. It was a great learning experience for us”
Some unfamiliar faces were seen in the UPDF Lady Tomahawks side.
Shabila Lumanyika formerly with Nabisunsa, where she averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 steals in the 2024 season.
The other player was Loreen, who, as per the coach just returned from India and will be looking to contribute significantly.
