Ahead of the start of the second round for the Women’s Rugby League, the teams have come out to cry for help because of the huge expenses involved in playing the games.

In the last few game weeks, teams have been struggling to operate smoothly, and it ultimately culminated in this.

Not so long ago, the Elgon Wolves had to walk part of the distance because their means of transport had broken down and they only had 16 people available.

The She-Wolves had struggles of their own, coming from Mbale with the help of their opponents, Black Pearls, in covering part of the transport costs and playing the games on empty stomachs.

On top of helping the She-Wolves, the Black Pearls had their own struggles and made a drive trying to raise funds to host the game.

Panthers had a drive as they were trying to get money to help their athletes who got injuries.

Each team has been suffering, even though some are silent but with the teams coming out to cry for help, it is only fair that we hold their hand.

As the saying goes, a friend in need is a friend indeed and this is the time that we need to show our friendship to these players.

There will be 3 Women’s games on Women’s Day, Saturday 8th March and the teams are seeking a total of  Uganda Shillings 5,207,000.

5 of the 6 teams in action need financial support to help them cater to their different needs like transport, food, ambulance, pitch preparation, and more.

International Women’s Day is a huge event worldwide and not having Women’s Rugby would be very shameful.

Let’s all come together and support the ladies. Kindly contribute to the cause.
