The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) held its inaugural Awards Dinner on Wednesday, 19th March, at the Sheraton Gardens.
The event is aimed at awarding top excelling athletes, and sports administrators in their different sporting disciplines.
Among those recognized were 4 basketball players in the National Basketball League.
Gazelles co-captain Hope Akello was recognized as the Best Basketball Player in 2024.
She was the MVP, and helped her team JKL lady Dolphins win their fourth championship while averaging a double-double.
Titus Lual was named the Best Basketball Player in the Men’s category and he helped City Oilers win their 10th NBL Championship.
KCCA Leopards’ Margaret Bagaala was named the Best Female Netball Player.
The She Cranes star played in multiple international tournaments including the Netball Africa Cup in Namibia.
Bagaala had the record for most points scored in a game (40) in the 2024 season.
Finally, Ruth Tushemereirwe of JT Lady Jaguars was recognized as the most outstanding player in Lacross for 2024.
Ruth was not heavily involved on the court for the Lady Jaguars in the 2024 season, could this be her year?
The NBL tips-off of on Friday 21st as the JTLady Jaguars entertain the JKL Lady Dolphins at 7:00 pm while the City Oilers and the Namuwongo Blazers lock horns in the big game at 9:00 pm.
