The 2025 NBL season tipped off on Friday 21st March after over 5 months without top flight basketball.
We take a look at some of the top performers in the opening week of the season.
Edgar Munaba
Despite defeat, Edgar Munaba had a wonderful outing and kept the Oilers in the game in the fourth quarter.
He scored the final 8 points for the City Oilers including the drive to tie the game with less than 10 seconds to go.
On his Oilers debut, he reminded us of what he is capable of and he is a player to keep a keen eye on throughout this season.

Jimmy Enabu
Jimmy Enabu finished with a team-high 21 points as the Namuwongo Blazers edged the City Oilers and his performance was exceptional down the stretch.
In the fourth quarter, he was causing lots of problems with his drives to the basket and he managed to draw 3 fouls.
He also scored 9 points in the final period which all came at crucial times.
Ben Komakech
Ben Komakech best fits the saying, “aging like fine wine” and he showed that against the Namuwongo Blazers.
He carried the Oilers’ offense for large segments and made crucial baskets which kept them afloat.
However, the Oilers were unable to see out the victory despite his high level of production.
Stephen Otoa
Otoa had the best performance in the game week because of his work rate throughout the game and his level of productivity.
He finished the game with 25 points, 9/10 FG, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block as KCCA defeated Rezlife Saints in a very close game.
One other factor that made Otoa stand out is the help defense. His presence in the interior was a stumbling block for the Rezlife Saints and they scored just 26 points in the paint.
Opira Markey
The sommet new signing was on fire and his contributions offensively and defensively help his side overcome the JKL Dolphins.
Markey came off the bench and scored a game-high 15 points and 5 rebounds.
He was very efficient from distance, making 4 of his 6 attempts from the 3-point line.
When he was introduced in the second quarter, Sommet looked much better more so offensively and his presence, which was a threat, created some space for his teammates to operate.
