The Kampala Rockets became the second men’s team to score 50+ points in a game this season after defeating Sommet 85-72.
The Rockets lost their opening 2 games of the season but now seem to have turned the corner after back-to-back wins.
They came into this game after a victory against the UCU Canons and wanted to boost their energy further with a win against Sommet.
Ahead of this game, Sommet had lost their previous game against the KCCA Panthers and they aimed to return to winning ways.
It was an alternating first half as each team took one quarter.
Sommet led the game 22-15 after the first quarter and Kampala Rockets took the second, 16-10.
Sommet made a 10-0 run to start the game but the Rockets also had a 10-0 of their own in the second quarter.
Mark Ngobi had 17 points in the first half on 7/11 from the field.
In the second half, the Kampala Rockets upped their offense and for a moment, Sommet was able to match.
However, in the final 5 minutes of the game, the Rockets had their way.
With 5 minutes left, the game was tied 67 apiece but was ensued was top from the the Kampala Rockets.
They outscored Sommet 18-5 including a 14-1 run to end the game 85-72.
