The Namuwongo Blazers scored a season-high 126 points as they blew out the KIU Titans, 126-70, on Wednesday 9th at Abja Park.
During the 2024 Semi-Finals, the KIU Titans eliminated the Blazers in the Semi-Finals after a very heated game 5.
However, all but one of the players that played in that squad remained on the roster.
The Blazers also had a lot of changes made to their roster, and it wouldn’t make sense to assume they were seeking ‘revenge’ due to the heavy change in the personnel.
Ahead of this game, Namuwongo had scored 90+ points in all their games at Abja and they aimed to keep the streak going.
They were coming up against a very young KIU Titans squad who had conceded 93 points in their previous game against JKL.
As expected, the starting 5 for the Blazers changed drastically. Richard Ongom, Peter Obleng, Arthur Wanyoto, Henry Ssebagala and Moses Mugisha started the game and were able to set the pace.
The first quarter was a dominant performance and the Blazers established a 25-point lead, after leading 36-11.
They tied their record for the most points scored in a quarter.
KIU was better offensively in the second quarter as they scored 23 points including 5 3-pointers.
However, the Blazers were very much on top of the game and scored 28 points to make it 64-34 at halftime.
The game was done as a contest but more firepower came off the bench for Namuwongo.
Innocent Ochera dropped 14 points in the third quarter while Jimmy Enabu also came off tbe bench.
Namuwongo players were still hungry for more and they kept going with the same energy in the fourth quarter.
They scored 34 to KIU’s 23 and sealed the victory 126-70.
They are also the only team to score 25+ points in every quarter in a game this season.
