The UCU Lady Canons registered a huge 34-point victory against the Nkumba Lady Marines, who are yet to win a game this season, on Easter  Monday at Lugogo.

Nkumba is still searching for their win of the season and facing a young and enthusiastic UCU lady Canons team was always going to be a hard game.

The Lady Canons came into this game on the back of a tough victory against a resilient Magic Stormers and they were looking to build on that momentum.

UCU led the game 20-9 after the first quarter.

Nkumba scored just 2 points in the first 7 minutes of the game and registered 10 turnovers in that same time.

10 of the 20 points for UCU were second-chance points while 9 were points from turnovers.

Clearly, the Lady Canons were punishing the Lady Marines for their mistakes.

Nkumba did not learn from their mistakes and UCU kept punishing them.

The first 5 baskets of UCU in the second quarter were all second-chance points.

By halftime, UCU Lady Canons led the game 40-15 but most importantly, they had 43 rebounds to Nkumba’s 13.

Nkumba had more turnovers (21) than points scored (15) in the first half alone, and they needed to dig deep in the second half to keep it a decent scoreline.

The Lady Marines started the third quarter strong, making an 8-0 run in the first 2 minutes but it was short lived.

They only managed to score just 2 points in the remainder of the quarter.

However, in the fourth. They looked a much sharper side and managed to score 22 points.

UCU went on to register a comfortable 81-47 victory.

The UCU Lady Canons have now registered the most offensive rebounds in a game (48) beating the previous record set by UPDF (42).

The UCU Lady Canons have a 4-2 record but are still protesting their walkover loss to Angels.

They return to action on Wednesday 23rd against the JT Lady Jaguars at Lugogo.

Nkumba find themselves in a deep hole with 8 losses in all their 8 games.

They take on Nabisunsa next on Wednesday 23rd at Abja Park in Nalya.

This is looked at as the most opportune moment for them to get their first victory of the season.
