Mpoza Abigail scored a game-high 29 points to lead Nabisunsa past the Nkumba Lady Marines on Wednesday 23rd at Abja Park.

Nabisunsa, who only had a single win, coming against Angels, at the same venue, came into this game with confidence that they could get the job done against a Nkumba side who has yet to register a victory this season.

The Nkumba Lady Marines came into the game with 8 losses and this was a big opportunity for them to put something in the win column.

However, it wasn’t the best of starts for them to the game as they trailed 24-16 after the first period.

Abifaith Musiimenta scored 3 triples and finished with 11 points and 3 assists in the first quarter.

Mpoza Abigail had 5 points and 3 assists while Auma Joy had 8 points and 2 assists.

The 3 were the ones terrorizing Nkumba who had Mellisa Kyazze drop 8 in the first quarter.

Mpoza dropped 11 points in the second quarter as Nabisunsa outscored Nkumba 15-9 to take a 14-point lead into the halftime break.

The Lady Marines had a big opportunity to come back in the game in the third quarter.

They went to the free throw line 14 times but managed to score just 7 of those.

They registered 8 offensive rebounds but scored just 5 second-chance points.

Nabisunsa managed to extend their lead to 16 points with the fourth quarter left and this was a comfortable lead for them.

Nabisunsa extended their lead to 22 points with less than 3 minutes left and despite Nkumba closing with an 8-0 run, it wasn’t enough.

The high school side went on to win the game 68-54 and secure their second victory of the season.
