Sommet tasted victory for the first time since the opening weekend, after their 67-60 win against Victoria Crocs.

Coming into the game, Sommet had the second-worst form in the league, and with the victories that Victoria had attained, many thought it was going to be an easy win for them.

At the end of their game against UCU, Sommet scored 10 consecutive points from turnovers and this the loss, their was an indication that they were getting better.

The Coach, Albert Aciko, was also confident in his team, and this was an opportunity for the team to boost their morale, if they got a positive result.

It was a slow first quarter for Victoria as they trailed 11-19.

Sommet made a 9-0 midway through the quarter and this helped them gain a significant lead.

The offense by Victoria went from bad to worse.

They scored just 9 points in the second quarter, scored just 1 of 5 free throws, and scored only 4 of their 22 Field Goal attempts.

At halftime, Sommet led the game 33-20, John Focus Teko leading the scorers with 11 points.

Sommet made their intentions very clear in the third quarter as they made a 15-5 run to make it a 23-point lead, their largest this season.

Victoria Crocs still had breath and they made a huge run of their own.

The Crocs scored 14 unanswered points to make it a 9-point game with less than 2 minutes left and clearly, the game wasn’t done yet.

It was a matter of game management for Sommet in the fourth quarter and for the most part, they handled the job.

They kept a double-digit lead until Victoria made an 8-0 run to make it a 5-point game with 3:41 left.

The game was on the edge and the pressure was getting to the players.

Sommet had a chance to bury it on the free-throw line but they missed all their 6 attempts in the final 70 seconds of the game.

Nonetheless, they hang on to win the game 67-60 and update their winning column to 2.

They will be back in action on Sunday 27th as they face KCCA Panthers at Lugogo.

Sommet has started their week strongly, with a much-needed win to snap their 4-game losing streak.

They will have back-to-back games this weekend: Against Namuwongo Blazers on Saturday at UCU and KIU Titans on Sunday at Lugogo.
