Despite playing only 17 minutes, Martina Anyango was the star performer after dropping 20+ points and 17+ rebounds, for her first time this season.
This came on Wednesday 30th as the UCU Lady Canons took care of business, defeating Nabisunsa 72-52 at YMCA.
The Lady Canons led the game 21-14 with Martina Anyango scoring 12 points.
UCU took over in the second quarter as they outscored Nabisunsa 22-6 to take a 23-point lead into the halftime break.
Nabisunsa failed to protect their paint and UCU kept making drive after drive and also getting most of their points from under the rim.
The other problem that Nabisunsa faced was their inability to rebound.
UCU registered 12 offensive rebounds and a total of 25 while Nabisunsa registered 13 in the second quarter.
The Lady Canons continues to exert themselves in the third quarter, limiting Nabisunsa once again to only 6 points, whilst scoring 20 and taking their lead to 37 points.
Once again, rebounding was very key in the Lady Canons’ dominance. They registered 25 rebounds to 7 for Nabisunsa and 9 of their 20 points were second-chance points.
Despite being down 37, Nabisunsa was still up for a fight in the fourth quarter.
The coach utilized his starters and they managed to outscore UCU 26-9 to cut the deficit to 20 points.
Mpoza Abigail turned up in the fourth quarter, dropping 14 points including 2 3-point shots made.
