The Nkumba Lady Marines closed their first round with yet another defeat as they fell to the Magic Stormers 62-54 on Sunday 4th at YMCA.
Despite the loss, this was the second lowest defeat they experienced in the first round and the girls have a reason to be proud of, given how much they found till the end.
The Magic Stormers led the game 19-13 after the first quarter and it was the youngster Ssengendo Mary Hazel who carried the Lady Marines with 8 points in quarter.
The second quarter is where things went wrong for the Nkumba Lady marines as they scored just 8 points.
The good things for them was that they limited the Stormers to just 14 points and it was just a 12-point game at halftime.
Magic led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter but Shalom Muwanguzi kept Nkumba in the game.
She scored 10 points in the quarter and as the quarter winded down, the game was 52-39, in favor of the Magic Stormers.
Nkumba tried to stay in the game and kept fighting but the Stormers ahead all the way secured a 62-54 win.
