St Noa girls defeated St Mary’s Kitende 50-36, at the 2025 USSSA Games in Bukedea, in a repeat of the 2024 Finale.
St Noa managed to come out on top after finishing unbeaten, with a huge victory in the finals against their arch-rivals, Kitende.
St Noa led from the get-go, establishing a 10-point lead after (15-5) the first quarter.
Both teams scored 10 points in the second quarter but St Noa maintained their 10-point lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, St Noa maintained a good lead and Kitende tried to fight but couldn’t catch up.
They went on to win the game 50-36 and avenge their 31-28 defeat from the 2024 finale.
Earlier this year, St Noa defeated Kitende 54-43 in the Finale of the USSSA Qualifiers in Wakiso.
They also defeated them 67-49 at the USSSA Wakiso Qualifiers in 2024 but were unfortunate to lose when it mattered most.
St Noa has 2 players, Bushira Namayanja and Modesta Anyango Maxine, who represented Uganda at the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Qualifiers in Egypt, where Uganda emerged victorious.
The duo, plus Resty Nanangwe, also played at the U18 Afrobasket in South Africa where Uganda reached the semifinals.
Their experience was invaluable and it played a key role in helping them win the Championship this time around.
St Noa and St Mary’s Kitende is turning out to be one of the biggest rivalries in Ugandan Basketball and it will yield very many stories and history in the future.
